We have all been taught to look at the nutrition info on a food label. It has been ever changing and evolving, and most recently now shows the amount of added sugar, in grams, per serving.
Most people typically look at the calories, carbs, fat, protein, and sugar. While those are important to consider, that area of the label lacks the full picture on the value of the product when trying to eat healthy.
What truly matters most?
Ingredients.
Many of our canned and boxed goods contain inflammatory, highly processed ingredients such as soybean oil and canola oil, which are seed oils and generally a GMO.
GMOs are typically heavily sprayed with Glyphosate, which is the main ingredient in Round Up weed killer, a known carcinogen.
The good news? There are healthier swaps for everything.
That's right. You don't have to fear packaged food. You just have to know what to look for when reading the label properly.
This is largely what I make people aware of during their initial visit with me.
